Thank you to all who came out to show your support at the 4th Annual Abbey's Hope Golf Tournament and Party. We raised over $125,000 for Abbey's Hope!

Special thanks to our great sponsors The Walser Foundation, U.S. Bank and Merrill Corporation!

Our volunteers rock! Thank you to all those who gave their time and talents day of and leading up to the tournament. We could not have done it without you!

Lastly, thank you to all of our golfers and party guests! Not only for your support, but for you patience and tenacity to withstand a six hour game of golf and then a windy night by the pool! Only in MN do you have a 90 degree day followed by sweater weather 2 hours later!

Congratulations to our winning foursome and this years owners of the Abbey's Hope traveling trophy...Mike Kasner, Fritz Ebel, Al Lampe and Dave Miller! Coming in a close second was Jeff Holum, Jon Miller, Chad Stiernagle and Jeff Wojnicz. We were told it may have been the longest round of golf at ECC, therefore we want to congratulate ALL the golfers for making it through!

This year we had a hard time finding just one best dressed! It was very obvious that many of our golfers put a lot of thought into their outfits! After a long debate, the secret committee voted and because they couldn’t pick just one, awarded TWO best dressed awards. Congratulations to John Lohmann and Scott MacDonald! For their amazing fashion sense (and the fact that JLo actually has hot pink pants), they will both be rewarded with a $200 gift card to Hammer Made.

During the upcoming year, Abbey's Hope will continue to identify and provide support and assistance to Minnesota organizations and programs to help educate children, parents and pool and spa professionals about the dangers of entrapment due to poorly maintained pools and the common risks of traditional forms of drowning. In addition, the Foundation will be expanding and improving on our partnership with the YMCA. Our goal is to teach more and more children how to swim and, of course, educate them about the hidden hazards that are found in pools and spas. Our Water Watchdog program will be re-introduced this year. A new design, and new distribution network will help us reach many more parents about the importance of actively supervising children while they are in or around water. Our website and materials will be redesigned this year. We believe that our new web presence and more effective education materials will help Abbey's Hope become the public's first choice for drowning and entrapment prevention tips. Finally, Abbey's Hope will continue to help the United States Congress and the Consumer Product Safety Commission implement government enforcement efforts. Our Foundation is working to ensure that all pools and spas in Minnesota become fully compliant with the Abigail Taylor Pool and Spa Safety Act and that pools and spas around the country meet the critical standards required by the Virginia Graeme Baker Act. All of us here at Abbey's Hope Charitable Foundation are exited about all the recent activity. Your support helps us keep Abbey's Hope alive.

Thank you again for all your support, we look forward to seeing you on the course again next year!

The Dragonfly Story

Excerpted from the eulogy at Abbey Taylor's Celebration of Life Service

Below the surface of a quiet pond lived a colony of water bugs. They were happy, living far from the sun. But they noticed that occasionally, a member of their colony would climb up a lily stalk and disappear from sight, never to return. Where do you suppose she went? wondered a water bug.
