On June 11th Abbey's Hope Charitable Foundation will proudly present our 2nd "Spring into Summer Safety Event" at the Edina Aquatic Center. This event would not be possible if it wasn't for the time and talents put forward by you! Choosing to participate in the event whether as a "Safety Vender", an event volunteer, or an attendee you allow us the opportunity to keep kids safe. To keep families and parents minds on how they can prevent the preventable both in and around the water. That said, I am EXTREMELY excited about the group or committee we have working on this event and think that we have a huge opportunity to make a difference. And that is what I need to do for Abbey's Hope Charitable Foundation and Abbey's legacy.
So far this fiscal year we have donated $40, 000 to HopeKids, $10,000 to Faiths Lodge for a handicap assessable playground, $10,000 to Minnesota Safety Council. We have a few other donations in the works but until the paperwork is taken care of and the checks are cut you will have to wait and see. Our BIG news today is Abbey's Hope is working on to actively "Keep Kids and Families Water Safe". This program would reach out to children and families that don’t have the financial means or easy access to swimming lessons. Our goal is not to teach the world to swim, we are trying to teach children some very basic water safety lessons and give them the skills to be able to help save themselves if someone else is not nearby to rescue them .
So much has happened so quickly and sometimes/many times it doesn't seem real. What the Foundation has accomplished in such a short time. We are very aware that our accomplishments are not simply attributable to “genius” leadership (far from it) or a hard-working board of directors and committees. We have accomplished we have so far only because we have great friends and volunteers like you who gave us loyal support along the way.
So this is a thank-you note—for attending, participating and sharing our mission with friends and neighbors and accepting our occasional errors due to “growing pains,” and just for helping to put Abbey's Hope Charitable Foundation on the map. The future looks bright, and we want to acknowledge your contribution.
We are making a difference and we will help Keep Kids Safe.
